This is a poem I found online and modified about 75% of it. I call it...

The Insanity of Sanity

Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray my sanity that I keep.
For if some peace I do not find,
I'm pretty sure I'll lose my mind.
I pray I find a little quiet,
far away the daily riot.
May I stand here--not have to think
about their hearts jet black with ink,
or who they're with, or where they're at,
or how all they do is chat and chat.
I pray my thoughts be tried and true.
Without my God, what would I do?
I pray my actions stay in my head
or else they'll all come soon be dead.
I pray my expressions, calm as glass,
shall not betray my thoughts, alas.
Yea, now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray my wits about me keep,
but as I look around I know
I must have lost them long ago!

Hostility

Author's note: This poem was created with the help of Kaysha Standridge and Eri Immamura for my British Lit. class. The goal of the project was to teach us about Dada (poetry that doesn't necessarily make sense or follow any particular pattern). We were given two different Dada poems and a couple magazines. The poem was created by choosing words and phrases out of our sources (before we knew what the project was, we were told to each pick 10 phrases that we liked out of the sources) and putting them together.

Hostility

Time. This sleek, sinuous dream.
Out of control, gripping things with surprise.
Too dark to see anything, it holds one spellbound by magic.
The well was very deep: shake and a shiver, glints and gleams.
Amazing! Never in his life, for fear of killing somebody,
Hope be here.
Everyday, look about her and to wonder, figure it out!
Looking more like great disappointment, it was empty.
My problem.

A Letter from the Dead

I wrote this poem because I was in one of my misanthropic moods. I could not understand why the people around me acted so foolishly. I didn't understand why none of them wanted to be mature. I wrote this poem to get the message out that their behavior would eventually be the death of them.

Salvation

In school we read the poem "God's Grandeur" by Gerard Manley Hopkins. We were then given a sheet of paper with the poem typed on it and we had to use only those words to create a different poem. I wanted to create a poem with a light/dark comparison, so I started underlining all the words that had to do with either light or dark. Then I worked around those words to create this poem.
