A Letter from the Dead

I wrote this poem because I was in one of my misanthropic moods. I could not understand why the people around me acted so foolishly. I didn't understand why none of them wanted to be mature. I wrote this poem to get the message out that their behavior would eventually be the death of them.

In school we read the poem "God's Grandeur" by Gerard Manley Hopkins. We were then given a sheet of paper with the poem typed on it and we had to use only those words to create a different poem. I wanted to create a poem with a light/dark comparison, so I started underlining all the words that had to do with either light or dark. Then I worked around those words to create this poem.
